First night in St. Maarten

I arrived in St. Maarten to cloudy skies, and by the time I got through customs and out of the airport, it was raining! What a bummer. It stopped by the time I got to my resort (St. Maarten traffic jams are tough!), but the skies remained cloudy for the rest of the day. I explored the resort though, and am totally psyched to hang out by the gorgeous infinity pool all day tomorrow… let’s hope the weather clears up by then. For dinner, I headed to a nearby restaurant that came highly recommended: Captain Oliver’s. It’s on a marina …

Skiing is the new golf

Last night, we had dinner at a local restaurant that also happened to be a whiskey distillery – High West Distillery! Cool. We had a private room for our group, and a set menu for food. Normally I’m not a fan of set menus, because I feel like there are usually healthier things on the regular menu, but after a full day of skiing, I was ready to indulge! I started with a delicious cocktail (Rough Romance, made of High West Vodka 7000′, raspberry syrup, lime, and ginger beer), and then progressed through some delicious cabernet sauvignon for the rest …

Skiing with the CEO!

After my not-so-great experience skiing in Chamonix, I was worried that maybe I had just become a sucky skier. After today in Park City, I can say that it is not so! My coworkers and I got a bit of a late start to the day, after having a few pints at the No Name Bar on Main Street the night before. When we finally got our rentals, got our lift tickets, and got up the lift, we were so pumped and ready to go! The most senior coworkers (including our CEO!) headed off in a group for the advanced …

TGIF!

The fact that my project is done should have made it easier to pack for my ski trip, since it meant that I just needed to pack for the weekend instead of packing ski stuff and work attire for a week. However, while I had counted on getting in around 9pm, packing for 30 minutes, and getting to bed by 10pm, I ended up staying up till midnight checking out various beach destinations for next week… and didn’t even get to packing! That meant I only got about 6.5 hours of sleep… not quite what I needed to recover from …

One Night in Paris

I ended up arriving in Paris grumpy, thanks to some not-so-great airline experiences along the way. Nothing major; the airline messed up and didn’t put my frequent flyer status on my boarding pass so I wasn’t allowed to visit the lounge. My issue wasn’t so much the lounge access (though free vodka always = awesome), but that the lounge clerk was really nasty about it, acting like I was trying to sneak in even though I had every right to be there. When I got to the airport, I then discovered that the B train to Gare du Nord (which …
