Weekend Recap: Sunny Spring Weekend Sequestered in Superior

Sugar_Coalton_Trail

Friday was my Peloton bike delivery day, and I was so excited! Since I knew I’d want to shower after the delivery, I also made it my grocery shopping day, and headed to the store after a short walk with Sugar and then my regular 7am work call. However, the delivery people surprised me and called while I was at the store, saying they were ahead of scheduled and would it be okay for them to come early? I had just gotten to the front of the line to get into Trader Joe’s, but knew I’d be very quick in the …

Race Report: Back on my Feet Meaningful Miles Virtual 5K

Finish_BomF_5K

Last summer, I attended the Denver launch of Back on my Feet (BomF), a nonprofit that seeks to combat homelessness by first building confidence and self-esteem through weekly group runs, then enrolling participants in financial literacy classes and job skills training. I haven’t been able to volunteer with BomF since that first run, but my good friend Heather sits on their Board, and I joined her team for their fundraiser 5K, which was supposed to be last weekend. But… COVID19 happened. And the 5K turned from a physical race around Sloan’s Lake, to a virtual race. The “race” kicked off …

Last night, I hit my “century ride” (100 classes) – and I got to do the ride live in the studio in New York! My Peloton Journey / Setup Stepping back… I first got into Peloton last spring, when I was in New York for a project for a few months, staying at the Sheraton Times Square. Let me tell you, these days I am all over the …

Vacation Recap: Winter Break, Week 2

The_Rose_2020_New_Years

I left Albany on Christmas Eve, expecting to be home by 6pm. Unfortunately, United had other plans for me 🙁 My original flight from Albany to Chicago was several hours delayed, which pushed me to a later connecting flight as well. I didn’t end up landing until 8pm, and rushed home to drop my stuff off and change, then headed downtown for a wine date at Barcelona. Nice cozy way to close out Christmas Eve and put all the travel stress behind me! On Christmas morning, I woke up early to throw some things in the car, then headed for …

Two Nights Before the Race: HITS Sarasota Olympic Triathlon

Triathlon_Skeptic_Checked_Bags

I’m really nervous. I’m on a plane to do my first triathlon on Sunday – the HITS Sarasota, Olympic distance. I feel reasonably prepared from a physical standpoint (well, mostly), but there is a lot lacking in my preparation. Namely, around all the stuff. One big selling point for running is that all you really need is a well-fitting pair of sneakers , even if you’re doing a full marathon. A watch? Helpful but not necessary. Gels / fancy nutrition? They hand it out along the course (as long as you’re not too particular about what kind you eat). Special …
