Well, my birthday this year was not quite what I expected… but I guess that’s the theme of 2020, right? Normally, I like to take a day off work (whether on my birthday or close to it) and spend it doing my favorite things. I wrote last week how I was really dreading the holiday weekend. This was supposed to be a social and fun weekend, but I ended up feeling pretty isolated and alone 🙁 My Friday kicked off in a weird way. On Tuesday, I woke up with my left eye really puffy and swollen – but not at all red or itchy. Although I worked all day Friday, my Thursday felt like the weekend, because for the first time in months, I had house guests! Weekend Recap: Hitting the Boulder Trails

I went into the weekend without many plans; just a hiking date on Sunday morning. But Saturday, in particular, ended up being a pretty amazing impromptu day! My morning started taking Sugar out for a trail run. My plan was to head up Rattlesnake Gulch to the Continental Divide overlook, but when I got to the trailhead, it was totally packed.
