What I Read in May 2023

Best_Books_of_May_2023

I read seven books in May, putting me at 32 books for the year, which is nine behind my goal to stay on track for 100 books this year. I need to get back on track with two books a week! I was doing pretty well until I got bogged down with a novel at the end of the month that I couldn’t really get into. But, I do have an incredible five star read to share… 5 stars: Love at 350°, by Lisa Peers: Tori is a chemistry teacher in her 40s who’s famous for her class on baking, …

What I Read in April 2023

Best_Books_Of_April_2023

I read seven books in April, which puts me at 32 books for the year. That’s now seven behind my goal to stay on track for 100 books this year. Not a bad month for catching up, and two of them were amazing five star reads! 5 stars: Adelaide, by Genevieve Wheeler: This is definitely not a rom com, but a heavy contemporary fiction novel that covers some pretty serious topics – and I loved it so much. Adelaide is a 26 year old American expat in London who meets the guy of her dreams, and she falls hard. But …

What I Read in March 2023

Best_Books_March_2023

I read six books in March, putting me at 19 for 2023 – six books behind to hit my goal for the year. Not a great reading month for me; I spent a lot more time socializing, and I also read some books that were a slog. Luckily, there’s plenty of time to make up for that going forward! 5 stars: Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, by Gabrielle Zevin: Sam had a major accident in childhood, and was in the hospital for reconstructive surgery on his foot; Sadie is at the hospital visiting her sister with cancer, and the two …

What I Read in February 2023

Best_Books_Of_February_2023

I didn’t read nearly as much in February as I did in January – only four books, and one was a novella! Yikes. I’m now coming to the realization that I need to dedicate more time to reading in March, for sure. However, that puts me at 13 books for 2023, which is only 3 books behind where I should be to hit a goal of 100 books for the year. There is definitely time to make up for that deficit! 4 stars: Seven Rules for Breaking Hearts, by Kristyn J. Miller: Margo and Jo run a popular romance podcast, …

What I Read in January 2023

Best_Books_Of_January_2023

2022 was a huge reading year for me – 122 books, my highest total ever! I don’t think I’ll match it in 2023, though, so I’m keeping my perennial goal of 100 books for the year. Given that I’m a lot more active this year than last year, and with less time for reading, I think it will still be a stretch – and I’m looking forward to the challenge. In January 2023, though, I read nine books – so that started me out with a bang! Only one that I gave five stars to, but I can’t recommend it …
