Fun Times with my Zombie Arm

Zombie Cast

Over the last few days, it’s been interesting to see what exactly my limitations are… and aren’t. There is a lot of stuff that I thought I wouldn’t be able to do, that I’ve surprised myself by figuring out a (usually much slower) way to accomplish it… like the putting-my-hair-up technique I detailed on Thursday. Here are a few other tasks that have surprised me: CAN: Wash my hair. I squeeze the shampoo and conditioner directly onto my head, and have to be careful to keep my left arm away from the water (I don’t trust the flimsy plastic bag …

My Favorite Tools to Relax My Back

Favorite Tools To Relax My Back

I know that I kind of dropped a bomb on here with news of my surgery next week – and while I was pretty calm in that post, I am starting to get freaked out now that it’s just a week away. Between that and the slipped disc in my neck last year (which was also a gradually-over-time byproduct of no one specific thing rather than an acute injury), it seems like I’m getting old and my body is starting to rebel! It was definitely a little bit icy – which is to be expected for early season – but I did pretty well, and found myself really comfortable on all the intermediate terrain. I wasn’t straightlining, by any means, but I was definitely taking a more vertical approach than carving wide turns like you do as …

8 Tips To Stay Healthy (and Happy!) This Holiday Season

8 Tips To Stay Healthy (and Happy!) This Holiday Season

The holiday season has begun! Last night, I got to attend the Colorado Thought Leadership Forum‘s holiday charity event with my friend Kelly, and I had a blast. However, it reminded me that this season is going to be full of yummy drinks and endless buffets of tasty appetizers. And cheese plates galore – my downfall! I don’t think it’s realistic to try for weight loss during the holiday season, but I would like to make it to January 1st without any weight gain, and I think that’s a reasonably attainable goal. So I thought it was really timely that …

Ski Season is Here!

Breckenridge November Skiing

Well, my first Colorado ski weekend is officially in the books. (And by that, I mean I am literally keeping a log of how many days I ski this year and where I go. Come on, did you expect any less from the woman who developed a Thanksgiving Excel?) After taking care of some issues with faulty bindings on my skis, I spent Friday laying low at home, writing this Thanksgiving recap, and going to bed super early. I then got up at 5am on Saturday to drive out to the mountains and try to avoid the holiday traffic. Great …
