Healthy Recipe: Buffalo Blue Cheese Brown Rice and Crab

This morning, I did a Refine Method class at 9:30am, then headed out to run a loop of Central Park with my friend Steph afterward. Having only fueled for all that exercise with a bowl of steel cut oatmeal topped with a spoonful of Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter, I was famished when I got home, and wanted pretty much everything I could possibly think of. The result? This mish-mosh recipe, which makes a massive bowl and yet is pretty darn healthy. (No picture because I wasn’t planning to post it until a few friends asked. That said, it doesn’t come out very …

Home Suite Home?

Typically in consulting, when you begin a project, someone on the team will negotiate a good rate at a local hotel and that’s where the team stays for the duration of the project. If you work for a larger consulting firm and/or in a major city, they probably already have rates negotiated with various hotels in the area – but still, someone on the team will pick a hotel and that’s where everyone stays. This morning, our Athleta running group was teed up for our first double digit run: 10 miles! The More Half Marathon is just 3 weeks away, and everyone is doing an awesome job with the training plan. Laura stayed at my apartment so that she’d be closer to the start of the run, and it was fun to have a mini-slumber party (chocolate chip cookies before we went to …

Relevant to this story, it’s that I’m working independently and have access to a kitchen – which means I can eat lunch whenever I want to (instead of when my coworkers get hungry), and I can cook lunch in the kitchen. Bliss! Today I was craving Indian for lunch. I keep a few Tasty Bite meals on hand at all times (usually for Thursday nights when I get home at 11pm after a flight and am starving but don’t want to cook), and I initially …

Weekend Part 2: Running, Drinking, and Cooking

Wow, what a week it has been! You know things are busy when you’re just writing the second half of your weekend recap… and it’s already the new weekend. So – when I left off, I was bitching about that stupid bouncer who told me I was too ugly to get into his club. Great end to my Saturday night, right? I headed to bed around 1:30am and wished I could just sleep all day… but I had signed up for a 10am running group through Urban Girl Squad, and it met all the way on the East side! I …
