So, forget the heat training and forget Vegas. I have new plans for the weekend of June 28, and they involve pirates, cross-country travel, and my second marathon!
That’s right, the Seafair Marathon is my newest crazy challenge idea. It’s also one of my last opportunities to do a marathon before September, as there are very few marathons (except Running With the Devil) in the summer due to the heat. Seattle shouldn’t be too hot, and it sounds really pretty as well. And I’ve never been there and I’ve always wanted to go!
My friend Nick (of The Desk Orphan) is going to come with me to ensure that I don’t die… or that if I do die, at least I don’t die alone. He also promises to treat me to ice cream after. We’re excited to ride the SLUT all over town the day before the marathon. (I bet that’s the first time someone has written that. I also bet that my search engine keyword analysis is going to change dramatically based on that sentence.)
I’ll be telling my mother that I’m only going out there for a half-marathon; that way she won’t have a heart attack. Other logistics: hotel is booked, flight is booked, rental car is booked. The only thing that’s not booked yet is the marathon itself, so there is still time for you to leave a comment begging me to do the half-marathon instead of the full. Though I’d prefer you to encourage my shenanigans 🙂
