Do your loved ones follow your lifestyle?

Last night on The Biggest Loser, the contestants went home to their families for the week. The idea was to see how they would do in their home environment. Most of the contestants had big parties thrown for them by their friends and family, and most of them included some food that was definitely not diet-friendly. Now, I think it’s pretty insensitive of the families to do that to the contestants (though I’m also guessing that the producers supplied the food for the parties and purposely put those in, just to create drama. Otherwise, I don’t see how the families …

Some inspiration from the Ironman Kona

This afternoon the 2007 Ironman coverage was featured on NBC. I don’t follow triathlons really, so I had no idea who won – I just love watching the race coverage. One thing I love about the coverage is that it doesn’t end when the winners cross the finish line. In fact, they profile some regular people (well, regular except that they are ridiculously strong and tough enough to do the Ironman) as they struggle to meet the midnight deadline for finishers. When people who don’t run (or tri) hear about races, they think it’s about winning. As a mid-packer, it’s …

Biggest Loser: Water Weight and Real Losses/Gains

I have to say I really didn’t like last night’s Biggest Loser. I know I just posted two days ago about it being my favorite show, but I just thought that the focus of last night’s show really sent the wrong message. Couch Exerciser Roundup

Do you like sitting on your butt? Yeah, I do too. However, I try to watch fitness TV shows because they get me a bit inspired and make me at least lift a weights while I watch. Here are a few of my favorites: American Gladiators (Monday nights): I have to say, it’s refreshing to see people in normal clothes when you look into the stands, rather than 80s outfits and hairstyles. I guess the protective gear looks a bit safer this time around too. Otherwise… not much has changed. But I don’t know – I kind of miss laughing …

Biggest Loser: "Five Remaining Players Compete For Spot on Finale"

I decided I’m going to post Biggest Loser updates every Wednesday. I know the season ends next week, but a new one starts in January so I can just resume then. If you don’t watch Biggest Loser, you MUST start in January. My gym has TVs on the ellipticals, so I usually head down there to watch for a while, and then when I get tired, I go back up to my room and lift weights while I watch. It’s pretty inspiring: I find that I do a lot more (distance, speed, reps, time exercised) on my Biggest Loser nights …
