Weekend Recap: Deluge Lake and Tyson’s Fried Chicken

Laura_at_Deluge_Lake

My Friday started off rough – I woke up at 4am and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I read in bed until 6am. On the bright side, I finished two books in that time! (One was short, the other I was already halfway through.) I also had time to do a 30 minute Peloton class, and chose a 90s pop ride with Hannah Corbin, which put me in a great mood from the day! But my workout wasn’t over then. As soon as I was done on the bike, I changed out of my capris and into a bathing …

Weekend Recap: COVID Birthday

Laura_Fox_Cake

Well, my birthday this year was not quite what I expected… but I guess that’s the theme of 2020, right? Normally, I like to take a day off work (whether on my birthday or close to it) and spend it doing my favorite things. COVID didn’t interrupt that, but my work schedule did – I didn’t block the day soon enough, and my calendar filled up with a bunch of meetings that I didn’t want to cancel. So while I couldn’t get in an all-day mountain adventure, I settled for starting my work day with a favorite trail run. To …

I didn’t end up landing until 8pm, and rushed home to drop my stuff off and change, then headed downtown for a wine date at Barcelona. Nice cozy way to close out Christmas Eve and put all the travel stress behind me! On Christmas morning, I woke up early to throw some things in the car, then headed for …

Triathlon_Skeptic_Checked_Bags

I’m really nervous. I’m on a plane to do my first triathlon on Sunday – the HITS Sarasota, Olympic distance. I feel reasonably prepared from a physical standpoint (well, mostly), but there is a lot lacking in my preparation. Namely, around all the stuff. One big selling point for running is that all you really need is a well-fitting pair of sneakers , even if you’re doing a full marathon. A watch? Helpful but not necessary. Gels / fancy nutrition? They hand it out along the course (as long as you’re not too particular about what kind you eat). Special …

Weekend Recap: Holiday Party Weekend

My_Consulting_Christmas_Photo

Weekend of December 7-8 This was a super short weekend for me… so hopefully that means I can crank out this recap and get caught up on writing these 🙂 I did get home on Thursday night, but my Friday was absolutely packed – first I hosted First Friday for my town, then was off to a dentist appointment, and then I finally was able to flip over to do work the rest of the day. I used to make a point of always wrapping up work by 5pm on Fridays (many other days, I work till 9pm or 10pm, …
