Flying Solo at the Colorado National Monument

This weekend, I headed out to Western Colorado for an annual event that my friend Kelly and her husband Den organize: the Den Grand Fondo. It’s a cycling weekend where we do a 20 mile leisurely ride on Friday afternoon, going from winery to winery in Palisades and culminating in dinner and more wine. Carbs to fuel up for the next day, you know? Because on Saturday, we do a 50 mile bike ride that took us up and around the Colorado National Monument – a climb of over 2200 feet! Friday was a beautiful day to drive out west. Even though …

How to Get More Exercise? Hide Your Car!

Mt Sanitas Early AM

Since moving to Colorado, one of the challenges I’ve faced is figuring out how to go out for drinks… or more accurately, how to get home after doing so. In New York City, it was so easy – I took the subway, Citibike, or a taxi pretty much wherever I went, so driving wasn’t even an option. But in Colorado, I’ve had to do a lot of planning ahead to make sure that I stay safe. When I was apartment-hunting in Colorado, one key criterion was the proximity to a Park N Ride bus stop. Review: Brancott Estate Flight Song Wines

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Millennial Central for Brancott Estate Wines. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. My dining room had been taken over by all the discarded boxes that I hadn’t yet broken down to throw away / give away, since I was waiting till I had unpacked all the boxes before breaking down any of them. (Obviously that was necessary to reduce switching time between …

Review: Barefoot Refresh Crisp White and Sweet White

The product and promotional item were provided by Barefoot Wine & Bubbly for this review. Lately it seems that everyone is sick. First JP got sick, and then we worked at a high school college fair together and went to dinner after – so I got sick. Then his wife, my good friend Blake, got sick. Each of us was feeling crappy for nearly a week (but staggered), so we haven’t gotten to see each other almost at all, and I miss my friends! Fortunately, tonight we were all finally feeling well enough to meet for dinner, drinks, and a …

September Means Back to the Books

After I wrote Friday’s post about not really wanting to drink… I changed my mind. And probably drank more in the last weekend than I have in a long time. Oops! Like a 21 year old on their birthday, drinking was a novelty that was too fun to pass up – and when combined with a wedding that reunited me with my NYU sorority sisters, it was even harder to resist. But now that it’s out of my system, I think I’m going to be cutting back again. I’m not going to the point of invoking Alcohol-Free September (though BF …
