Homesickness and a Free Figure 4 Class!

Sometimes it can be really tough for me to be away from home all the time. I get jealous of my friends at home who are able to to do the little things, like cook dinner or meet up on a weeknight. Last night, it hit me particularly hard – I had only gotten 3 hours of sleep the night before (was up stressing about a bunch of things), and when we wrapped up work around 7:30pm, all I wanted to do was go back to the hotel, have a protein bar or two as a quick dinner, and immediately …

Nuun Hood to Coast Application 2012

As you all probably know, I’ve been strengthening my running friend relationships lately. My fitness friends are so totally awesome – even if some of them are sometimes not the best influence on me. Me: “I’m doing two marathons in May… it’s going to be busy.”Jocelyn: “You should come pace me in the New Jersey Marathon on May 6!”Me: “Hmm… okay.”Jocelyn: “And I’m doing the Country Music Half Marathon on April 28… you should come run the full so that I have someone to cheer for when I finish!”Me: “Great! I’m an animal!

After my post yesterday morning about how much I sucked at weight lifting, it should come as no surprise that I was looking for any opportunity to better my fitness. Therefore, when I received a last minute invite to join some other fun area bloggers for a “Hunger Games”-inspired workout with Daily Burn, I immediately accepted… but I worried about what this would entail. Archery? Wall climbing? Boxing? I’m not even remotely good at any of the three of those, and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. When I arrived at the Daily Burn headquarters, though, …

Race Report: HMRRC Winter Marathon

After an insane week at work, I’m finally back – and with a race report from last week’s awesome Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club Winter Marathon. Happy Thursday, everyone! I woke up on Sunday morning feeling not-at-all ready to run a marathon. Despite going to bed super early the night before (9pm! On a Saturday! And I spent 7pm-9pm lying in bed catching up on episodes of Smash, so clearly I am a party girl), I have long noted that it’s not the sleep you get the night before a marathon that matters, but the sleep you get two nights …
