February Goal Progress: Week 2 Check In

Valentines_Day_Mocktails

I’m not going to sugar coat it: this was a really crappy weekend! I woke up on Friday with my voice about two octaves lower than my normal, and the cold continued to get worse throughout the weekend. I kept slowly canceling plans all weekend (including seeing Becky in Breck!), until by Sunday afternoon, I was sick enough to put a moratorium on seeing people altogether – I didn’t want to make anyone else sick. I’m incredibly frustrated that this is the second weekend in three weeks that I’ve had this cold. I’ve heard from neighbors, friends, and coworkers that …

Learning to Ask For Help

This week marked the beginning of Lent, and while traditionally you give up something bad for the forty days, I decided that I was going to spend this Lenten season adding something positive instead. I promised myself that I will go to church at least once a week between now and Easter – and that while I’m at it, I’ll “church shop” and check out some new-to-me churches in my area. But today and yesterday, my thoughts weren’t drifting toward personal things – I was thinking all about work and how I …

February Challenge: Zen on the Road

Driving_While_Emailing

February is Valentine’s Day, and so I think it’s as good a time as any to focus on some self-love. It’s no secret that I’ve been incredibly stressed out lately, and so I’d like to take the month of February to commit to doing something stress-relieving. I thought for a while about what that stress-relieving thing might be. Reading more? I feel like I am already doing well on that front (just brought my total books read count for January up to 11 this weekend). TED Talks in the morning? That petered off for me last year. And as I mentioned …

January Goal Progress: Week 4 Check In

This weekend didn’t quite go the way I expected. I wrote on Thursday about how I had a weekend with almost nothing planned, and I was looking forward to reading, sipping tea, and getting a lot of work done. But my schedule ended up filling up rather quickly – which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing to have some distractions. On Saturday morning, I went to a Meetup group that happened to be at the home of another Denver-area blogger – Karissa! We crafted homemade Valentine’s cards for kids who will be in the hospital on Valentine’s Day, and it was so …
