Weekend Recap: Last Weekend with Sesame

Laura_and_Sesame_Rolling_on_Floor

This was one of the tougher weekends I’ve had. On Thursday, I got a call about a potential forever family for Sesame… which was both sad and happy. Obviously sad because I would miss having her around, but, it would be wonderful for her to have a permanent home. And, truthfully, there were some things about living with Sesame that were a hassle (constant fur all over the house, never being able to do something on my own without a huge production). This was definitely bittersweet! While I usually try to wrap up work on Fridays by 5:30 or 6, …

My COVID Vacances

Beret_COVID_Vacances

On Tuesday, I took a day off work and went on vacation… to France! Well, in my imagination 🙂 At work, we’re having an issue where no one is taking their vacation time. Not only could this be an issue when things start getting back to normal (someday? Maybe?) and everyone suddenly wants to take weeks of vacation at the same time, but it also means that staff aren’t taking the breaks they need to rest and recharge. Speaking for myself, I am busier now and working longer hours than I was pre-COVID19, and I know I’m going to burn …

Weekend Recap: Filling the Time

Trail_Walk_With_Sesame

On Tuesday, I hosted a virtual happy hour for one of my teams at work. I had everyone fill out a survey of silly / interesting questions ahead of time, then we guessed who gave which answer. There is so much I want to …

Sesame_Snoozing_During_Conference_Call

Today is day 13 for me of self-isolation. Eagle County, where my mountain house is, was a hotspot for COVID19 because of all the people flying into Vail / Beaver Creek from all over the world. So right after my last visit there, the Colorado Department of Public Health asked anyone who had been to Eagle County to self-isolate for 7-10 days. I wasn’t too bothered by the announcement, as I was planning to do that anyway, seeing how dire things were getting… but that didn’t mean isolation was easy. The first few days were pretty tough. There are so …

Vacation Recap: Winter Break, Week 2

The_Rose_2020_New_Years

I left Albany on Christmas Eve, expecting to be home by 6pm. Unfortunately, United had other plans for me 🙁 My original flight from Albany to Chicago was several hours delayed, which pushed me to a later connecting flight as well. I didn’t end up landing until 8pm, and rushed home to drop my stuff off and change, then headed downtown for a wine date at Barcelona. Nice cozy way to close out Christmas Eve and put all the travel stress behind me! On Christmas morning, I woke up early to throw some things in the car, then headed for …
