What I Read in February 2018

Unfortunately, February was a pretty busy and stressful month, so I still didn’t step up my reading like I planned. I read only five books this month, which puts me eight books behind in my goal to read 100 books this year. Realistically, I don’t think things are going to ease up anytime soon, but I’m going to keep trying to sneak some reading in where I can.

I gave 5 stars to The Last Mrs. Parrish, and 4 stars each to Origin and The Other Einstein. Lots of fiction this month!

5 stars:

The Last Mrs. Parrish, by Liv Constantine: This was such an intriguing and engrossing read, I finished it in one night. (Oops – sorry, sleep.) The first half of the book followed Amber, and while I was frustrated by her duplicity, I was really invested in her story by the time the perspective switched to Daphne – and then the book got fascinating and I couldn’t put it done, waiting to see what would happen. Highly recommend this psychological thriller!

4 stars:

The Other Einstein, by Marie Benedict: I had never heard of Mileva Marić-Einstein, but found this fictionalized look at her life fascinating. I was frustrated with how Einstein took credit for her work (especially his famous theory of relativity), and it made me wonder how many other women have had their accomplishments attributed to others over the years. Great historical fiction!

Origin, by Dan Brown: Dan Brown’s books are always fascinating page turners, and this was no exception. I really loved the twist at the end, and didn’t see it coming.

3 stars:

Certain Girls, by Jennifer Weiner: Even though I read Good in Bed a while ago and didn’t remember it well, I really enjoyed going back to the characters and continuing the story. This was a sweet novel that kept me engaged throughout, but there wasn’t really anything groundbreaking about it.

The Mothers, by Brit Bennett: This came highly recommended by Amber, and while I thought it was interesting, it didn’t quite capture my attention. It was good enough to finish, but not one I loved.
