Tomorrow, I’m going to be hiking my very first 14er (mountain with a summit that is 14,000 feet or higher). But when my friend Mike and I went hiking yesterday on a much smaller peak for about 90 minutes, I was completely wiped out. Hiking can be pretty intense! My New Favorite Kitchen Tool: The Vegetti


My friend Becki did a great recipe post this week, and talked about using a Vegetti to spiralize her veggies into pasta. I had heard of a spiralizer before, but it seemed expensive/difficult/complicated. However, when Becki made it look so easy, and pointed out that the Vegetti is cheaper than a regular spiralizer, I popped over to Amazon and bought myself one… for just $13. Healthy Meal: Zucchini Cheddar Soup

One thing I love about working from home is the ability to eat healthy for lunch. When I work in New York City, I can certainly bring lunch from home, which is healthier than getting takeout. But when I’m working in my own apartment, I can cook up whatever my little heart desires. Today’s menu? Zucchini soup. How do you like them apples?

Recently, I’ve discovered my love for apples. Seriously, they are phenomenal. Whenever I get a craving for something sweet, I normally go for a spoonful or two of ice cream direct from the carton (hey, it’s my carton of ice cream and no one else eats it!). But recently, instead of going for the ice cream, I find that apples satisfy my craving and sate my hunger without giving me too many calories. Trying some new things

To mark the start of the holiday weekend,I met up with some girlfriends at The Redhead for dinner, and then moved on to The Belgian Room for craft beer. Yum! Knowing that we were going to be getting free frites at The Belgian Room, I tried to go light on my entree at The Redhead, opting for the appetizer-size portion of shrimp and grits while all my girlfriends had the fried chicken platter (their specialty, and supposedly the best fried chicken in NYC).
