Weekend Recap: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Santacon, and Monet

Recap of November 27 to December 1 This was a lovely long weekend from Thanksgiving Thursday to Sunday! And my mom was with me in Colorado the whole time, which made me really happy. I’m working on convincing her to move, and I think it’s starting to work, as she periodically sends me houses on Zillow she’s looking at 🙂 Speaking of houses, to start Thanksgiving extra thankful, Mom and I headed up to the mountains after I finished work on Wednesday. I haven’t been up there in more than 2.5 months (since my calf injury, because I couldn’t trail …

Weekend Recap: Tiny Beautiful Things

Weekend of October 11-12 After a busy Friday of work, I was psyched for some really fun plans Friday night: dinner and a night at the theater with my friend Kelly and her family! I’ve gotten to know Kelly’s wonderful Aunt Ann and Uncle Jim at Kelly’s wedding eight years ago, and now am delighted to get to see them whenever they come to town. Our first stop was Zolo Grill in Boulder – a Mexican restaurant right in the middle of a shopping district I often frequent, but to which I had never been. The food was great, and …

Weekend Recap: Packed with Plans

Recap of January 11 and 12 This weekend was pretty busy – but all good things! And I was thrilled to get in a mix of both mountain and Front Range activities. When I left my downtown office on Friday, I walked out into a blur of snowflakes – the perfect setup for the night I had ahead. My friend Chris and I were going to a screening of a Warren Miller ski film at Stoney’s, a gigantic sports bar in Denver. Although it was packed when I walked in, Chris had scored us seats in a section that didn’t …

Weekend Recap: Getting Hygge with Winter Cocktails

I just wrote my recap of the November books I enjoyed, but on Friday, I finished a really fabulous book that also set the tone for this weekend. Amber raved about The Year of Living Danishly, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a memoir about a writer who has to move to Denmark for her husband’s job, and she decides to spend the year researching why Danes are the happiest people on earth. The research is woven into the narrative seamlessly, and the author’s tone is light and sarcastic, reminding me a lot of the hilarious Jen Lancaster. Highly recommend this …

Weekend Recap: Denver Oktoberfest

In June, I wrote my summer bucket list… and then I only accomplished about half the things on the list. But I still loved the idea, and so I made a fall bucket list two weeks ago. Well, that fall bucket list has already been a huge success! A lot of my friends have been eagerly wanting to join me for some of the activities on it, and I love looking at the list and picking something out to do for the weekend. I know this is laughably Type A, but my life is so much better with a to-do …
